August 16th 2026 Meeting

EAA Chapter 1467 gathered August 16 at Gilbert International Airpark for an afternoon of aviation fellowship, safety education, and shared experiences. President Eddie Brennan welcomed members and guests and thanked Ron Angerman for hosting the meeting at his hangar, along with everyone who contributed food and helped prepare the luncheon. The chapter was especially pleased to welcome several guests, including two aspiring pilots who are preparing for their private pilot checkrides.

Safety remained an important focus of the meeting. Dave Gardner led a discussion about an aircraft fuel filter that failed to perform properly, using the actual component to illustrate the issue and encouraging fellow aviators to remain alert to equipment problems and communicate concerns to suppliers when necessary. Members also discussed the monthly VMC and IMC safety scenarios, including ways to prevent runway incursions and how pilots should communicate with air traffic control when low fuel and airspace routing become safety concerns.
The afternoon's featured speaker was chapter member Bill Barley, who presented "60 Safe Years of Real-World Personal Flying." Bill shared stories and photographs from a lifetime devoted to aviation, recalling an interest in flying that began when he was just five years old. His presentation combined memorable flying adventures with highlights from his career as a photographer and graphic artist. Still active in aviation and flight instruction, Bill's enthusiasm offered an inspiring reminder of the lifelong friendships, experiences, and opportunities that flying can provide.

Chapter members will gather again on September 20 at Ron Angerman's hangar. The meeting will feature a fall "Tailgating Foods" theme, providing another opportunity for members and guests to enjoy good food, aviation fellowship, and time together as a chapter.
