Here are our EAA Chapter 1467 EAA Ray Scholarship recipients for the years 2021 and 2024:
Justin Hibpshman - Justin was a 16 year-old high school student when he was chosen as our chapter's EAA Ray Scholarship recipient back in 2021.on a "full" EAA Ray Scholarship. At the time, he was a straight A student, played the cello, and had created several special projects. Aviation runs in his family. His father captains a Boeing 777 for a private company and his mother is an FAA inspector. He earned his private pilot certificate in 2022. He is currently attending a college in Florida and doing very well there.
Grace Lastinger - Grace is also a 16 year-old high school student at this writing with a straight A average. She is our chosen recipient for 2024 for a "matching" EAA Ray Scholarship. Grace already had a number of flight hours when she received this scholarship. At this writing, she has around 50 flight hours, has soloed, has taken her first solo cross country flight, and continues her flight training. She is now preparing for her FAA written exam. We have no doubt that she will receive her private pilot certificate and likely go on to earn her instrument rating and perhaps other aviation certificates as well.. She also hunts, plays sports and has many interests, including creative cooking arts.
