The March meeting of EAA Chapter 1467 was held at Gilbert International Airpark in Ron Angerman’s hangar, where members gathered for an afternoon of aviation discussion and a shared luncheon. The chapter welcomed attendees and a visiting guest, continuing its tradition of combining aviation interests with an informal, social setting.
A key focus of the meeting was safety. Designated Pilot Examiner Jeanette Hibpshman led a discussion on intentional spins, covering how they occur and proper recovery techniques. Using a recent real-world example, she engaged members in a practical conversation that included questions, shared experiences, and discussion of safe operating practices.
Members also participated in an open discussion on aircraft parts, specifically the use of components that may have applications outside of aviation. The exchange included firsthand experiences, considerations for safety and reliability, and general guidance for builders and owners evaluating such options.
The meeting included a review of EAA VMC and IMC scenario questions, with discussion of correct answers and applicable FAA regulations. These scenarios provided a structured way for members to think through real-world flying situations and reinforce sound decision-making.
Upcoming events include the April meeting at Ron Angerman’s hangar, which will feature a potluck-style meal, and a May fly-in to Buckeye Farms in Williston, offering additional opportunities for members to gather and participate in chapter activities.
