The Winchester airport together with the Handley Regional Library held their first "Story telling at the Airport" event. Our EAA Chapter was present to support the event with Stan Kerns bringing his Mooney up to the terminal as a static display for the children. Juergen Nies was there to promote the Young Eagles activities of our chapter and Kyle Wallace (our Young Eagles coordinator) was able to join towards the end after he finished his flight lesson on this cold and blustery day.
We had expected maybe around 20 children, but the turnout was much better. There must have been in excess of 50 children. The story teller did a fantastic job grasping the attentions of the kids with stories, songs and little dances. It was a great event and will be held every second Friday of the month. Our chapter will support the event with airplanes for static displays and by promoting our Young Eagles program.
