Saturday July the 15th was a rare summer day without Thunderstorms in the forecast. Gordonsville was low IFR with a 200-foot ceiling early in the morning but was supposed to go VFR by 9:00 AM. Sure enough, by about quarter past eight the METAR at GVE showed VFR.
John Munroe (RV-6), Keenan Wolfe (RV-8A) and I (Piper Pacer) met at the Winchester Airport for the 59 NM flight. John and I got off the ground close together at about 9:20 AM with Keenan following shortly after. The flight at 4,500 feet was very smooth and cool temperatures. Soon we arrived at Gordonsville for some Pancakes.
