Hagerstown (KHGR) March 16th, 2024
By: Juergen Nies
The notice for our March flyout was a little short since I wasn't quite sure if it wouldn't be too windy on Saturday March 16th. However, it turned out nice enough for five airplanes and six of our members to fly to Hagerstown, MD (Bob Metcalfe in his Panther, John Ely in his RV-7A, Jim Lum in his Navajo, Keenan Wolfe in his RV-8A and Juergen Nies with John Allen in Juergen's Pacer). The winds were less than 20 kts the whole day and the crosswind wasn't too bad either. Above 4,000 feet it was even relatively smooth, just descending into the traffic patterns was a little on the bumpy side. The tower controller got a little busy when all of us departed after lunch mixing in with the traffic he was already handling, but he did an excellent job to get us all out utilizing his two runways to stagger us up and to get us on our way.
I hope more of our members can join for the next flyout.
