After Hurricane Helene struck Asheville, NC, EAA Chapter 1031 swung into action. The airport manager at Winchester (KOKV) spearheaded a donation drive where members donated essential supplies to help the devastated people of western North Carolina. After the supplies were gathered, several members loaded their own aircraft or rented aircraft to fly the donated supplies to Statesville, NC (KVEH). One member was asked to then take supplies to Ashe County (KGEV). Heartfelt thanks to all donors and pilots, particularly the EAA Chapter 1031 members, for their kindness and support in assisting the affected individuals.
