General Membership Meeting Minutes
January 2026

1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by President Tim Dura, who welcomed members, guests, and first-time attendees.
2. Officer Transition & Appreciation
Outgoing leadership and key volunteers were recognized and thanked for their service, including Norm Cruz (Secretary), Seb Trost (Treasurer), Ivan Hoyt (Vice President), and Brian Eldredge (Former President). Remarks highlighted the chapter’s growth, renewed stability, and positive outlook under the new leadership team.
3. Raffle Announcement
Members were reminded that raffle ticket sales were ongoing in support of chapter activities. Darlene assisted with raffle ticket collection during the meeting.
4. Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes
The November 2025 General Membership Meeting Minutes were reviewed (December was a holiday party).
Motion to approve the November 2025 minutes was made and passed unanimously.
5. Treasurer’s Report
Seb Trost presented the December 2025 financial report.
Income included Young Eagles reimbursements.
Expenses included EAA national dues, Nevada Secretary of State filing, holiday party expenses, nametags, and routine administrative costs.
Ending balance at year-end was approximately $5,047.48.
The chapter ended the year approximately $1,500 lower than the prior January.
Per chapter bylaws, a financial review was completed by Vice President Ivan Hoyt on November 17.
Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report passed unanimously.
6. Old Business
No old business was brought forward.
7. New Business
Young Eagles Build & Fly Program:
Josh Sinclair reported that 17 youth participants attended the first Build & Fly session, exceeding expectations. Parents were required to remain on site. Activities included foam aircraft kits and aviation education. Some kit parts require replacement due to wear and damage.
Challenges include the unavailability of the terminal conference space due to renovations, requiring a new venue for future sessions. Plans include improved organization using activity stations and additional volunteers.
Build & Fly Materials Purchase:
A motion was approved to spend $24 to purchase and reproduce aircraft plans for the Build & Fly program.
8. Meeting Location Discussion
Due to upcoming terminal renovations (anticipated up to one year), alternative meeting locations were discussed, including Cactus Flight School classroom, public libraries, school or community facilities, North Las Vegas Airport conference room, and HOA clubhouses.
Consensus was to use Cactus Flight School as a short-term solution while continuing to explore long-term options.
9. Scholarships Discussion
Aviation scholarship opportunities and deadlines were discussed.
EAA scholarship matching requirements were reviewed.
Action Item: Create a scholarship resources page on the chapter website focused on EAA scholarships.
General consensus was that future chapter-supported scholarships should prioritize active chapter participants.
John Bremner said he would look into scholarship opportunities.
10. Raffle Drawing
$180 was raised from raffle ticket sales.
The airline ticket raffle winner was Josh Sinclair / Tiffany Sinclair.
Ticket fulfillment to be coordinated offline via email.
11. Community Building – “Superpowers”
Members participated in a round-robin discussion of skills and experience to support mentoring, education, and technical collaboration within the chapter.
Action Item: Update the chapter roster to include member skills and areas of expertise.
12. Announcements
Members were reminded to keep contact information current.
New attendees were encouraged to join the chapter, with student memberships available.
13. Adjournment
The formal meeting was adjourned, followed by informal discussion and networking.
