Old Business:

Rancho High School Open House

Seb Trost gave a brief of the Open House at Rancho High School hosted by California Aeronautical University (CAU).  Members of the chapter set up a table to hand out Young Eagles flyers and to answer questions.  Seb was assisted by his wife Darlene, Morrie and his wife who brought part of their RV-12 project, and Catherine and Andrei Taduran. Seb showed the flyer that Sarah produced and published for the next Young Eagles event we are hosting (May 10th at Boulder City Airport).  The flyer included a scan code for people to find our web site where the information can be found.  Seb discussed the presentation given by the university, the programs offered by CAU, the other aviation organizations that were present, and the turnout (about 50 youths).

New Business:

Pre-meeting

Brian surveyed the audience to see if the Chicken N Pickle was a good venue for the pre-meeting social.  We discussed the history behind the pre-meeting, past venues, and the pros and cons of Chicken N Pickle.  It was decided that we would continue to have this pre-meeting social in the future.  The next one will be in June since next month we are having a barbecue instead of a meeting.

Chapter Barbecue (5:00 pm May 14, 2025)

The chapter barbecue was discussed.  The chapter will purchase the main dishes for the barbecue for guests to enjoy. Volunteers will be needed to bring side dishes.  John, our webmaster, will set up some type of sign-up sheet (on Google) so people can list the dishes they will be providing.  Information will be emailed to the membership.  Sarah volunteered to bring the Mac N Cheese.

Web Site

Our webmaster, John, gave a brief on the status of the new web site and what will be added

Simulator

A Red Bird Simulator was donated to the chapter; however, it needs a minor repair to one of its ports.  It simulates a Cessna 182/182RG with a G1000.  It is currently being stored with one of the officers, but we will have to find a place to store it and some method of allowing members to use it.

Young Eagles

Jan briefed the next Chapter 1300 sponsored Young Eagles event on May 10th at Boulder City Airport - 1431 Airport Rd. Boulder City.  The main meeting area will be in the Grand Canyon Training room next to the Desert Flying Club spaces.  The event will start at 0900.  More information will be provided to volunteers later including safety briefing times, training requirements, etc.  Last year, there were 70 children who attended.
