Bylaws vote will go forward – it was discussed that we will have a very important vote in November on bylaw changes, one of which is the officer voting every other year (i.e. the President and Secretary one year, then Treasurer and Vice President the next year)

and the other is for the change as previously discussed that we won’t hire an outside accountant annually if the bank balance of the chapter is less than $10,000.

Looking for volunteers to run as officers.  Brian will not be able to serve as President after this year.  He discussed the duties and responsibilities of the president.

Redbird II Simulator – part needed to repair simulator has been received. Fred will work to make repair. Still working out exactly where to keep it, either a member’s home or a flight school.

New Business:

Sara and John received their private pilot’s licenses.  Congratulations!

Roger Hansen – Discussed his fiberglass wheel pants project and how we should set up a date and time during a weekend to do a workshop, earliest would in October.

Young Eagles rallies coming up

  • October 11 at Calvada Meadows Airport in Pahrump, NV
  • October 18th at Perkins Field in Overton, NV
  • November 8th at Boulder City Airport in Boulder City, NV

We often receive requests for information on how we can cater to younger people.  There was discussion about the EAA Build and Fly Program.  The goal of the program is to introduce children to aviation by building and flying radio-controlled airplanes.  Josh explained how the EAA program works.  He met with the local Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) president and learned about local RC plane enthusiasts, their programs, local facilities for RC aircraft, and regulations about their use.  Would need funding, someone to run the program, and a place to build.  Adults that assist will have to complete the Youth Protection training.

There was a motion to go forward with further research about expected costs, resources and manpower needed to establish and maintain an RC airplane program, then voting on it next meeting (Norm/Brian)

Jan Greenburg discussed Boulder City Airport Day on Saturday November 8, 2025, where there will be a Young Eagles event.  Will need someone to coordinate flights with other events going on in the air.  Seb Trost said he will serve as liaison/coordinator.  Discussed ideas for better organization and procedures for staging young eagles and their families for this year’s event.

There is an opportunity to have chapter hats made for our chapter.  If there is enough interest, we can contract to have them produced ($15-$18 a piece). More info to follow.
