Note: This event is the FIRST Saturday of December due to availability of the facility. It is also the aviation community's Tree of Hope toy collection in the morning at Atlantic Aviation. Presenter: Our speaker will be Greg Emerick, a Buffalo resident and founder of POLLi®, a platform that turns high-resolution imagery into governed, image-linked vegetation evidence. His presentation will be based upon one he gave at SXSW in March 2026 in Austin, Texas, which was titled “Saving Monarchs With Machine Learning and Computer Vision.” Monarch butterflies are experiencing severe declines, but AI-powered computer vision offers new hope for their conservation. (Note: SXSW = South By Southwest. Yes, it’s more than just a big music festival! It includes an Innovation Conference which brings together visionaries and creative minds with founders, brand leaders, executives, and investors to form the cultural forces that will shape the next decade.) Greg has a background in agriculture, aviation, conservation, and technology development, with over 14 years of experience in remote sensing using drones, combining technical innovation and ecological insight to transform the way we manage land and biodiversity.
