EAA Chapter 878

Maple Lake & Buffalo, MN

Welcome to Chapter 878

Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our Chapter.

We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Please come to our next meeting or event as our guest.

We are saddened to report that Dave Borrell, brother of Chapter member Dick Borrell and a founding member of EAA Chapter 878, passed away July 14, 2020.  Memorial and graveside services for Dave were held on July 20 at the cemetery of Mount Herman Lutheran Church, Annandale, MN.  Dave’s obituary is at https://www.dingmannfuneral.com/obituary/David-Borrell.

Four members of EAA Chapter 878 paid tribute to the memory of Dave Borrell, with a flyover coordinated for the beginning of his graveside memorial service.  Click this link to view the video of the flyover; permission to post was given by Dick Borrell.  Taking part in the flight were: Greg Thomes, Chris Glaeser, Dick Bihler and Laura Herrmann.

Chapter President Greg Thomes provided this photo of the four aircraft as they were preparing to depart Maple Lake for the short flight to the cemetery at Annandale.

Monthly Chapter 878 Meetings

While we are all confined to home, youth may be interested in the "Weather Minds" classes on YouTube, which include brief videos of Airplane Flight Data, Blizzards, Thunder, Rainbows, etc., and each ends with a book about the subject read by one of the KARE 11 meteorologists.  Adults, too, can learn from the lessons!

The Young Eagles flights for 2020 will be July, August, and September, please see the Young Eagle page on our website for information and to sign up for a flight.  Click for flyer or contact Kyle Weatherly for information:  612-759-5227 or k.weatherly@live.com
