We welcome you to join us for our first annual Aviation Symposium hosted by EAA Chapter 1.

When: Saturday, October 5, 2024
Where: Stits Hangar 16A at Flabob Airport: 4130 Mennes Ave, Hangar 16A, Riverside, CA 92509
Time: Check in begins at 7:30am - Symposium runs from 8am-2pm
Ages 14-19 
LIMITED seating is available, so be sure to reserve your seat!
Light breakfast and lunch will be provided
Theme: Aviation Career Path - This session will focus on multiple aviation career path. Speakers will be explaining how they got into their field and things they wish they would have known.

SPEAKERS

Emmy Dillon - B777 Pilot
Emmy Dillon is a B777 First Officer for Kalitta Air, an international cargo airline. Her flying career began in the field of human factors and systems engineering for an avionics manufacturer, providing her with a strong technical foundation. Over the years, Emmy's aviation experience has expanded to include flight instruction, ferry flying, fixed-wing air ambulance, charter operations, and flying warbirds. Passionate about supporting the next generation of female aviators, she serves as the Scholarship Chairwoman for the San Diego 99s, the Director of Education for the Air Race Classic, and is a Trustee of the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum. 

Robert "Bob" Marks & Sally Kloman - Retired ATC SoCal TRACON
Sally is a 37 year ATC veteran starting out as a Navy controller, then getting hired by the FAA in 1981 into Palm Springs tower/approach control. From there she went to Ontario TRACON, San Diego TRACON, Supervisor at San Diego Lindbergh, Quality Assurance specialist, Training specialist, and Traffic Management specialist, finishing her career at SoCal TRACON in 2013.

Bob is a CFI, pilot since 1978, and a 27 year controller, retiring in 2014. He worked at LA Center and SoCal TRACON, and currently works for King Schools at Montgomery Field in San Diego.

Art Torres - Remote Sensing/UAS Advisor for Southern California Edison
Art began his aviation career 18 years ago in the US Army as an OH-58D(R) Helicopter Mechanic for the 101st Airborne Division, A-Troop, 7-17 Cavalry. He served 6 years active duty with the Army, serving in almost every part of the world. After his honorable discharge from the military, he was hired on by the Pasadena Police Department as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. He worked 11 years with Pasadena PD, with the last remaining years serving as the Director of Maintenance for Air Ops. He has obtained his Airframe & Powerplant, Inspection Authorization, and Part 107 Remote Pilot certification from the FAA. Art also has his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, and Master of Science in Unmanned Systems from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. In 2022, he was hired on by Southern California Edison as a Remote Sensing/UAS Advisor where he currently supports the Part 107 Training for the company as well as conduct inspection flights using helicopter mounted LiDAR and HD/UV/IR sensors.

Louis McGraw
Louis McGraw is a FAA FAASTeam Program Manager located at the Long Beach Flight Standards District Office. He also teaches at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, along with traveling the country teaching personnel in other FAA offices Safety Management Systems and Safety Assurance Systems. 

Louis started his aviation career in the U.S. Army as a CH-47 Chinook Helicopter mechanic. Louis has worked for the Saudi Arabian Government as a CH-46 Sea Knight (Navy/Marine) helicopter instructor, Continental Airlines, American Airlines, UPS Airlines and currently the FAA. 

Louis's primary mission is to improve the Nation’s aviation accident rate by conveying safety principles and practices through training, outreach, and education: while establishing partnerships and encouraging the continual growth of a positive safety culture within the aviation community.
