Cameron Park Aeronautical Experimenters (CPAX)

EAA Chapter 1726, the Cameron Park Aeronautical Experimenters (CPAX), is an aviation community based at Cameron Park Airport (O61) in Cameron Park, California.

We are interested in aviation in all its forms, with a particular emphasis on experimental aircraft, aircraft construction, restoration, fabrication, engineering, systems, and the practical knowledge that comes from doing things yourself.

Our members come from many different backgrounds. We have pilots, aircraft owners, builders, mechanics, engineers, machinists, designers, fabricators, restorers, technicians, aviation students, enthusiasts, and people who simply enjoy airplanes and the people who build, maintain, and fly them.

What Makes Chapter 1726 Different?

We believe one of the most valuable things about aviation is the knowledge that gets passed from one person to another.

How do you solve a difficult fabrication problem? Why was a particular system designed the way it was? What did someone learn while building an airplane? What works in the real world that isn't necessarily obvious from a manual or a drawing?

These are the kinds of questions we enjoy exploring.

Chapter 1726 provides a place where members can share what they know, learn from others, work on projects, ask questions, exchange ideas, and develop practical skills in an environment that is professional, participatory, and enjoyable.

You don't have to be an aircraft builder to appreciate that. You don't have to be a pilot. You don't have to own an airplane. And you certainly don't have to know everything about aviation before walking through the door.

What We Do

Our activities reflect the interests and experience of our members and include:

• Aircraft Construction & Restoration
  Building, restoring, modifying, and maintaining aircraft and aircraft components.
• Technical Knowledge & Discussion
  Exploring aircraft systems, design, engineering, maintenance, operations, and the practical lessons learned through experience.
• Fabrication & Workshop Activities
  Sharing skills and techniques involving machining, welding, composites, sheet metal, woodworking, 3D printing, and other forms of aviation craftsmanship.
• Education & Mentorship
  Helping members learn new skills and providing opportunities to learn from people with experience.
• Project Collaboration
  Bringing people together to solve problems, work on projects, and share resources and expertise.
• Flying & Safety
  Fly-outs, aviation activities, safety discussions, and opportunities to learn from other pilots and aircraft owners.
• Social Activities
  Movie nights, gatherings, airport activities, meals, and other opportunities to simply enjoy the company of fellow aviation enthusiasts.

There Is More Than One Way to Participate

Not everyone joins an aviation organization for the same reason.

Some members want to spend Saturday morning working on an airplane. Others want to attend a technical presentation. Some enjoy discussing aircraft design over coffee. Some are looking for advice on their first project. Others simply enjoy meeting pilots and aircraft owners and being part of the airport community.

All of those are legitimate ways to participate.

You can contribute your knowledge, learn something new, help with a project, bring an idea to the group, attend an event, or simply show up and meet people.

You don't have to build an airplane to belong here.

Our Home at Cameron Park Airport

Cameron Park Airport is more than the location of our meetings. It is an active aviation community with aircraft, hangars, workshops, projects, and people doing interesting things.

Chapter 1726 is part of that community.
