Presidents Column
Hello Everyone
Well, we had very good attendance at the May 31st “Cabin Fever” dinner. Many new faces and some very familiar ones. A great way to usher in the flying season. We enjoyed each other’s company as well as the great food served up by the friendly staff of Block Brewery.
I'm looking forward to a fruitful flying season to include OshKosh and many of the fly-ins around Michigan. Many new people attended the June meeting with real enthusiasm towards getting their pilot’s license. Very encouraging!
The new EAA Chapter 1056 sign was mounted on the side of the EAA hangar on Friday, June 6th with the help of Gary Konrad and Fred Liskovec. Thank you for your support. I think it looks great and let’s others in the community know we exist.
See you next month on the 3rd of July at Livingston County Airport.

New Sign
Our new sign is finished and being installed as I write this newsletter. It will be placed on the south side of our hanger facing Grand River. Pretty Cool. Never had a big sign before. 5’X4’ with solar lighting!
Presentations
The presentation was on ignition systems. The pros and cons of both Magnetos and Electronic Ignition systems. Very well received with a lot of discussion.
News Item
Boeing has sold off its Aviation software businesses which include Foreflight and Jeppesen to software investment group Toma Bravo Aviation Solutions. This is a result of Boeing’s recent financial problems and also to concentrate on their core business. They needed the cash. Reported price 10 Billion dollars!
Projects
Jeff Kemph brought over his ultralight project in a trailer for everyone to see. He has made great progress. A really elegant design.
Fred Liskovec is doing an airworthiness inspection down in Indiana on a Kitfox. Apparently there isn’t enough inspectors in Indiana so he gets a lot of that work. He is also up for a special award for 50 years as an inspector. Congratulations Fred!
Greg Lask bought plans for a Thatcher CX7 some time ago. He recently got them out and found out that there have been some major revisions to the plans and he needs to decide which way to proceed.
Wendy Turner took an Eagle flight with Steve Aupperle recently and is enthusiastic about starting flight training. Nice to have her come to the meeting. I hope she continues. Welcome Wendy!
Paul Hatley, first time visitor, is looking for a project.
Travis Heeg has started Sporty’s private pilot on-line ground school.
Jordan Perco is a high school student, soon to graduate who is pursuing an aviation career and wants to start ground school soon. Exciting!
