Youth Membership - Join EAA Chapter 9 in three steps:


1. Join the National EAA Organization
The best way to join EAA is by becoming a Young Eagle. Young Eagles offers youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane. Each year, EAA Chapter 9 hosts six (or more) Young Eagles events around Central Ohio. (See this year’s Young Eagles schedule.) The flight is just the beginning of the exiting opportunities to experience aviation through the Young Eagles programs. After you fly, you will receive a unique code to activate your FREE EAA Student Membership.

2. Join EAA Chapter 9
EAA Chapter 9 offers free Chapter membership to youth 18½ years old and younger. Once you have registered for EAA (National), send an email to join@eaa9.org with your EAA member number and we will add you to our chapter roster.

3. Subscribe to our mailing list
Subscribe to the EAA Chapter 9 mailing list so you don’t miss any announcements about upcoming activities.

How to get involved in EAA Chapter 9:

 

1. Young Eagles - EAA Chapter 9 holds six (or more) Young Ealges event each year. If you’re between the ages of 8-17, register for one our Young Eagles events. We love to see familiar faces– keep coming back.

2. Monthly Gathering - Everyone is always welcome at our Monthly Gatherings. If you’re considering joining or want to see what we’re all about, just show up. Monthly Gatherings feature and aviation guest speaker and are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00pm. Before of after the meeting, introduce yourself. We all share a common interest and are excited to welcome new people in our vibrant aviation community. See Monthly Gatherings for location details and schedule.

2. Build Night - We are building a kit-built airplane as a chapter! Members can join us every Tuesday night at The Ohio State University Airport and help build. Join in the fun and get hands-on with aircraft tools and learn about airplane construction techniques.See the RV12is Project page or contact President@eaa9.org for more information.

3. Other Aviation Events  - EAA 9 hosts several other aviation events for youth members and their families to get involved in. Each July, we organize a group to attend EAA Airventure Oshkosh– a weeklong celebration of aviation– in Wisconsin. We also organize several “flyouts” each year– flyouts are like field trip by airplane to regional aviation destinations. See Chapter Events for more information.

4. Learn to Fly - Did you know that you can start learning to fly as young as 16 years old? The Young Eagles program include free resources for youth who are learning to fly. Additionally, EAA Chapter 9 organizes programs to help you get started with flight training: Flight Training Info Session, Flight Training Support Group, and the Ray Aviation Scholarship.
