Member Tool Lending
Chapter-owned tools available exclusively to EAA Chapter 648 members for use on their personal aircraft.
About the Tool Crib
EAA Chapter 648 has invested in tooling for the exclusive benefit of its members to build and maintain their aircraft. This page explains how to get the most out of that benefit while protecting the chapter’s interest in these valuable assets.
Policy
Tools are intended for the exclusive use of Chapter 648 members for use on their personal Experimental or Certificated aircraft.
Tools may not be used in any commercial context. They shall not be loaned, shared, or rented to non-members, nor used by members to provide a commercial service to non-members.
Standard tools remain the personal responsibility of the borrowing member at all times — including transit to and from the aircraft location. Except for normal wear and tear or product malfunction, the borrowing member is responsible for replacement or repair following loss or damage.
The Tool Committee and Technical Counselors are available to answer questions or assist with any chapter-owned tools.
For High End Tools, the member must request a chaperone from the Tool Committee or Technical Counselors. The chaperone will accompany the tool and oversee its use, ensuring the member learns proper care and operation.
