EAA Chapter 648 • Longmont, CO
About Us
Pilots, builders, and aviation enthusiasts based at Vance Brand Airport, Longmont, Colorado.
Who We Are
EAA Chapter 648 is a diverse group of pilots, builders, and people who just love aviation. Our members run the full spectrum — from airline captains flying 787s to powered parachute pilots, with just about every type of aircraft and skill level in between.
This is EAA, so naturally most of us have built our own aircraft. Our hangar doors open to everything from Kolbs to twin-engine jets, and materials ranging from classic wood and fabric to aluminum, composites, and fiberglass. If it flies, someone here has probably built one.
What We Offer
Technical Counselors
Our chapter has EAA-certified Technical Counselors with hands-on expertise in metal, wood, fabric, composites, and avionics. Free guidance for builders at any stage of a project.
Young Eagles
We regularly offer Young Eagles flights to introduce kids ages 8–17 to aviation. Our volunteer pilots have given thousands of first flights to local youth.
Scholarships
We award aviation scholarships each year to local students pursuing flight training, ground school, and other aviation pathways through our chapter scholarship fund.
Community Events
From our annual Longmont Fly-In to swap meets and fly-outs, we put on events throughout the year that bring the aviation community together at KLMO and beyond.
Come Join Us
Our monthly meetings move around — a member’s hangar, a local school, EAA facilities nearby, or wherever the most interesting thing is happening. No two meetings are quite the same.
Whether you’re deep into a build, just starting out, or simply an aviation enthusiast with no plans to ever hold a wrench — you’ll fit right in. Come see what we’re about.
