The scholarship funds are from the Mel Kubicek memorial.
Mel was an avid and long-time member of Chapter 227, an active Young Eagles pilot, and an encouraging flight instructor.
The awarded scholarship will be applied to the continuation of flight training at either the Waterloo or Waverly airport through the respective FBO and must be used within one calendar year of the award.
A $500 aviation scholarship will be awarded to a worthy applicant by EAA John Livingston Chapter 227, Waterloo, Iowa.
Applicant Requirements:
- Age of 25 years or less
- Presently enrolled in school (high school or some form of higher education)
- Pursuing private pilot certificate with airplane single engine land rating at Waterloo or Waverly.
- Successfully completed the private pilot written exam.
- Minimum of 5 hours of solo (PIC) time in airplane single engine land with completion of a solo cross-country.
