The calendar says that fall is here, but the local temperatures suggest otherwise. Last month, we held our annual picnic, and I want to extend a sincere thank you to the dedicated members who braved the intense heat to join us. There is no doubt about it—it was hot!
This month’s gathering promises to be an exceptional event. Chapter member and astronaut John Grunsfeld will deliver a presentation on his experiences repairing the Hubble Space Telescope while tethered to the space shuttle.
The gathering will be held at the Tom Books hangar, 14C. We will begin with a meet-and-greet at 9:45 AM, and the presentation will start promptly at 10:00 AM. Please stay afterward to enjoy some burgers with us. As a reminder, all of our gatherings are open to the public, so please feel free to invite your friends and family.
Our chapter remains dedicated to supporting aviation education through scholarships. The application deadline for our Educational Scholarships is November 1, 2026. Additionally, we plan to send three young individuals to two different EAA AirVenture camps in Oshkosh next summer; the deadline for those applications is January 15, 2027. The chapter will also be applying for The Ray Aviation Scholarship again, and we will share details as soon as information becomes available.
As we approach the end of another successful year for our chapter, I want to emphasize that our achievements are directly due to your active participation. Thank you for your continued support.
