Our next meeting is scheduled for October 10th, 2022, at 7 PM at our usual venue, Bob and Carol's Colorado Classics office at Vance Brand Airport in Longmont. Punch 229 Airport Road into your mapping program, gate code is squawk VFR. Our featured speaker is a recipient of the goods delivered by the 'candy bomber' during the Berlin airlift just after WWII ended.
Special note from our chapter VP:
As many of you know our local aviation community suffered a huge loss recently when two aircraft collided in the vicinity of the Longmont airport. One of the pilots involved in this tragedy was “Buzz” Henry Butler who was the pilot of the Sonex Xenos. While Buzz was not a chapter member, he was a friend of many who are members of the chapter.
A gathering in memory of Buzz’s life and love of aviation has been scheduled for Saturday October 8th, 10:00AM, at Buzz’s hangar at the Platte Valley Airpark (18V). The presumed address is 7507 CR 39, Ft. Lupton. It's a small Airpark, look for the mass of cars on the N side of the airport. If flying in, the runway is about 40' narrow and 4100' long, which may be a touch too narrow and short for some.
(Editors note, Henry's box hangar is pretty near the center of the northernmost box hangars at 18V, and just south of the museum)
