The next business meeting and gathering will be on September 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM at our hanger #38 at Ocean County Airport (MJX) located Airport Road, Berkley Twp., NJ. We will be continuing our Summer BBQs this year through October. Feel free to bring a side dish; if you're not culinarily inclined feel free to make a donation to help offset the food cost. September's program will be a Wings FASST seminar on navigating a real in-flight emergency.
We are looking for ideas to enhance our meetings. If you have any thoughts regarding low-energy meeting programs, we would like to hear your ideas. Please help your officers to plan meeting/activities of interest to you!
Another area which needs your focus is our Scholarship Program for young, aspirating aviators looking to attend a degreed program. Each year we receive applications from Ocean County high schools for Chapter 898 scholarships and usually give out at least two $500 scholarships. Additionally, we look forward to providing $500 Grants to student pilots. If you could contribute additional support for Scholarships and Grants, it would be greatly appreciated. Another way of helping the Scholarship/Grant program is through the weathervanes designed by Bob Newman. Each weathervane is auctioned off to assist the Scholarship/Grant program. To date the weathervanes have been replicates of Piper Cubs. We are in the planning stages of adding a Cessna 172 as another weathervane. Bob also offers the weathervanes for sale, if interested. We also have started auctioning aviation photography; to date the photos have of been restored vintage WWII aircraft, some of which are housed at or own MJX! If you wish to purchase any aviation photos please contact me at the number listed below. All proceeds from weathervane and photography sales will go to the Scholarship/Grant fund.
Our aircraft Builds are currently working on the RV-15 and Bob's RV 14. Look for e-mails from our secretary, Debbie, for the dates and times of the builds.
