Greetings to the EAA 898 Members and Visitors!
This Summer has seen some of the hottest weather on record! And August is yet to come!
Our July BBQ was really well received with over 50 people attending. Our guests included Jessica Cox of the Right Footed Foundation (for whom we are building the Van's RV-10), the Ocean County Commissioners and the Ocean County Sheriff. Jessica and her husband, Patrick Chamberlain, came to see the progress on the plane as well as thank all the folks who have had a "hand" in making her dream come true. The local press was on hand to record the event; a story about Jessica and the Chapter was featured on the front page of the Wednesday edition of the Asbury Park Press! The plane is about as complete as we can make it and will now go to Arizona to be completed and fitted for Jessica.
The Builds this summer have been on most Wednesdays and Saturdays. Some weeks the weather has been too hot to have builds. Despite the heat, the "crew" has been diligently working and has completed as much of the work on the RV-10 as possible; the "(Im)possible Plane" will be leaving within the last week of July, The RV-15 is set to be started in the next month. And, of course, Bob also has the RV-14 ready for work, if there is any downtown. If Wednesdays or Saturdays don't fit your schedule, but you still want to help, stop by or give Bob a call; Bob or one of the crew are usually at the hanger working starting around 9:00 am.
Our summer is set to start winding up with our hosting a dinner for the pilots of the Kathy Jaffe aerobatic contest on August 7th.
We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Please come to our next meeting or event as our guest.
