Congratulations Times 4!
June, 2026
We have such an active group of members in our Chapter that we have many congratulations to give this month. Two go to Chapter VP, Abby Donofrio, who not only graduated from Ashland University with her degree in Marketing, but also won first place in their entrepreneurship competition, ideaLabs. Abby's proposal is for a College of Aeronautics for Ashland University, which the college is currently evaluating. Congrats, Abby!
Also, 2023 Ray Scholar Jack Pomfret, is continuing his aviation studies, by successfully passing his CFI checkride from fellow Chapter member, and Instructor, Charlie Gibbons. Congrats. Jack!
The Chapter Build and Fly group, headed by Chapter members Greg Cantrell, Ken Guthrie and Ron Lutz, has completed their build and had a successful first flight. The young people in the group: Colm Burke, Parker and Grant Zeigler, and Paulie Hancheck, and their instructors put in many hours to complete their R/C plane. Congratulations, All!
And finally, Chapter member Chris Shearer and his crew of fellow restorers, Darryl Stimson and Jim Sweeney, completed their RV-6A restoration with a successful flight in May. As with all projects, there are still a few tweaks that need to happen, but it should be a regular in the pattern soon. Congratulations Chris, Darryl and Jim!

Congratulations to Jack Pomfret, our latest Ray Scholar, who passed his Private Pilot's check-ride and earned his Private Pilot's license! If you are keeping score, that's five Scholars in six years. We have wonderful young aviators who have earned their Private Pilot's Certificate through the Ray Scholarships available from the Experimental Aircraft Association, and dedicated chapter volunteers who have worked with them to help them earn their certificates. Many thanks to Ray Scholarship Coordinator Mike Guenthner, who has dedicated countless hours to making the program a success and to all who have helped with this amazing program.
