Ayden Miller

EAA

We are excited to announce that Ayden Miller has officially earned his Private Pilot’s License on May 7, 2023, becoming one of the newest pilots based at SPI! Ayden’s journey was filled with challenges, but his determination and passion for aviation never wavered, leading him to this incredible achievement.

Like many flight students, Ayden faced his fair share of obstacles, including multiple weather delays and unexpected mechanical issues. But nothing tested his patience and persistence quite like the events of his checkride day. Just as Ayden and DPE Denny Taft were preparing to start up for the exam, tornado warning sirens echoed through the airport. Despite the sudden twist, Ayden stayed calm, and luckily, the severe weather stayed south and east of the airport long enough for them to complete the flying portion of the checkride safely.

In all his years, Denny mentioned he had never experienced anything quite like that during a checkride! But Ayden’s commitment to his goal paid off, and hearing the words “You passed!” was the perfect reward for all his hard work.

This accomplishment highlights the spirit of perseverance that defines great aviators, and Ayden’s success is a testament to what can be achieved with dedication and the right support. A big thank you goes out to our Ray Scholarship Coordinator, Marty Towsley, for his incredible work managing the paperwork between Oshkosh, our chapter, and the Flying20 Club.

Congratulations, Ayden! We can’t wait to see where your aviation journey takes you next!
