Introduction to Aviation

Class For Ages 12-17
An 8-week class series to teach interested youth about all aspects of aviation and give them hands-on experience with flight.

Cost:  $50 Tax-Free Donation

for youth aviation education.

The forces of flight, parts of a plane and how flight controls work.

Sept 14

Aviation Weather and Sheriff's Hangar Tour
What makes weather, how to read the sky, getting and interpreting aviation weather reports, how to use navigation charts to plan flights.

Sept 21

Types of Models and Basics of Model Building
Build a flying model to learn more about how planes work.

Class 4
Sept 28

Communications, International Alphabet, Runways
How to use the airplane's radio, flying the pattern.

Oct 5

Build a Wing Rib and Riveting
Build a wing rib and set rivets to see how airplanes are built.

Control Tower Visit

Visit an operating control tower and see how pilots
and Air Traffic Controllers work together
