The Chattahoochee Valley Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 677 Inc., formerly the West Central Georgia EAA, Inc., has been in operation at Columbus Airport since its incorporation by the State of Georgia as a Domestic Non-Profit Corporation, 18 December 1979. Chapter 677 is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization (80-524666) classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a public charity.

We are a community of passionate aviation enthusiasts that promote and support recreational flying. Our mission is to grow participation in aviation by promoting the “Spirit of Aviation.”

At our monthly Young Eagles rallies, we introduce area youth, 8-17 years old, to aviation with a free introductory flight around the Chattahoochee Valley. As of November 2024, we have flown 6470 area youth since the inception of the program in 1992.

In the past decade, we have awarded twenty-one full scholarships ($37,051 in tuition and airfare) to EAA's Air Academy in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a week long summer camp designed to introduce young people to the aviation world.

With the support of the Ray Foundation, our chapter administers the Ray Scholarship program, which provides a full scholarship to an area youth for flight training to obtain a Private Pilot certificate. We've funded private pilot certificate training for eight area youth since 2019 with scholarships of $60,000.

Each month we provide free aviation safety training to area pilots.

All of our programs are funded by the generous donations of our community and membership.
