In 1939, Col George S. Patton requested flight training and an aircraft to be assigned at Ft Benning for his use. The Pentagon denied the request, so Patton purchased a Voyager and some lessons from local instructor Ralph Swaybe. The Army wasn't keen on Col Patton flying himself, so they assigned Paul W.
