Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation.

Today, the Young Eagles program has flown over 2.3 million kids.

The Young Eagles Program

EAA Chapter 43 holds Young Eagle Rallies once a month from March through October at the Erie Municipal Tri-County Airport. The flights are provided free by volunteer pilots and ground support personnel in the hope of inspiring kids to explore the world of aviation.  Due to the limited number of seats available at each rally, EAA allows young people to register for multiple flights per year. Chapter 43 would like parents to limit to one flight per year and allow first timers an opportunity to experience flight.  Participating youth must be between the ages of 8 and 17 at the time of their flight.

Our new season started March, 2024.  See the links below to register for a Young Eagles Rally Day.  Registration has been filling-up in less than 90 minutes so plan accordingly.  There are 35 flight slots and four waitlist slots available for each registration date. 

The Young Eagles Day website sends out a reminder email three days before the rally (check your Spam or Junk folders).  Simply click either the "I'm attending" or "I can't make it" option.  Please, if you sign-up for an event and later find out you're not going to make it, cancel your flight so we can fill it with another child.

Once you register your child, the next page is your confirmation.  Find the waiver form, print it, sign it and bring to the event.  This will save you from filling out forms on the day of the event.  The form has your child’s registration ID on the top and your name with a place to sign, your child’s name.  Bottom open lines on the form are for pilot information.  Please print one form per child on a separate piece of paper.

 Note: Waiver form printed out at time of registration speeds up the sign-in process the day of the rally. Signed by a parent or legal guardian.  Completion of the waiver form is required for youth to participate in a flight.
