The meeting of EAA chapter 175 on October 15th was a VMC club session and the speaker was Ryan McKeon. This is a long-standing program run by EAA, which uses scenarios and case studies as the basis for open discussion about aviation and safe and proficient piloting (the scenarios are chosen so that there's never just one possible answer). It’s also was a good excuse to swap flying stories with each other!
The October 15th session was on the focus on approaches to landing. How do we ensure we are in harmony with all other traffic that is en route to the same airfield? What special considerations might there be for traffic other than GA aircraft: larger commercial aircraft, those towing banners etc.? We'll take a look at scenarios which test our decision-making skills for this vital phase of flight.
Here is the presentation and pictures of the event.
