The most recent chapter meeting of the year was held on Saturday, November 16th. Thanks to Roy for preparing breakfast before the meeting began.
Chapter Treasurer Mike Newman delivered a great presentation on the electrical systems in aircraft and the challenges and nuances involved in wiring up an aircraft successfully. Mike brought numerous tools, wires, instruments and components in order to make the presentation a hands-on and visual experience.
In this presentation, Mike Newman had cover:
- Essential Wiring Procedures: Best practices for wiring in aircraft, including various types of connectors and the proper tools needed.
- Wiring Types and Mounting Methods: Insights into different wiring types and secure mounting techniques.
- Labeling Importance: The significance of proper labeling for maintenance and safety.
- Expert Insights: Learn from Mike Newman's extensive experience, including:
- 6 years in the U.S. Coast Guard working with Loran-C and communication gear
- 3 years at Rockwell Collins focusing on autopilots and EFIS systems
- 3 years at II Morrow, earning FAA repair certification for aircraft and marine GPS
- 16 years running Global Nav-Com, providing sales, service, and installation for marine vessels
- 10 years with ASI working on military aircraft simulators
Additionally, Mike Newman had brought some historical avionic items from the past for members and guest to examine.
