The meeting of EAA chapter 175 on May 21st was VMC club session. This is a long-standing program run by EAA, which uses scenarios and case studies as the basis for open discussion about aviation and safe and proficient piloting (the scenarios are chosen so that there's never just one possible answer). It’s also a good excuse to swap flying stories with each other!
The May 21st session tested our stick-and-rudder skills, as well as our decision-making. In the first case study, we'll discuss what happens when the throttle is unreliable and controlling our speed when coming in for landing becomes a problem. In the second case study ... bird strike! What options are available to us during this situation, when we have to consider our own safety and the safety of people around and below us.
