Chapter 1384

Newsletters

February 2025

EAA 1384 Newsletter, online version.

Our Monthly meeting was held at 6:30pm Thursday February 6, 2025 at Life Is Pizza in Westminster MD.

New officers:

President: Ryan Fair

Vice President: Maggie Crew

Treasurer: Alan Hawk

Secretary: Marty Teramani;

Young Eagles Coordinator: Alan Billings

Newsletter Editor: Warren Reames.

The treasurer was not able to attend. No financial update at this time.

We are searching for a more suitable location for our meetings, as opposed to meeting in a restaurant, a park or a member’s home. We would prefer something on the KDMW airfield with some office space if we can find it.

The Fly-In date has been finalized for Saturday, May 17th, with a rain date of Sunday, May 18th.

Ryan Fair lead the discussion about the helicopter and airliner collision near Reagan Airport. What a great, interesting and informative discussion he led, as a former US Navy helicopter pilot and instructor with training and experience in night flying and night vision goggles. Ryan is a great presenter.

Warren brought up an issue with the new no-lead GAMI G100UL fuel damaging fuel tanks and paint jobs. This is a serious issue. Textron will not approve it for their engines. So by default that includes Beechcraft and Cessna. Cirrus does not approve of it either. Several aircraft now have leaking fuel tanks. You can read about on your own. Search AVWeb for “GAMI G100UL” to start. Then check with EAA.org and finally Youtube. Search for:  Aviation Fuel Observations - Paint & Materials Effect Testing.

Warren also shared a .pdf document from GAMI that says it is not compatible with automotive fuels, and especially not compatible with ethanol laced fuels.

Request a copy from him at wpreames@gmail.com .

Please do not confuse this with Swift’s unleaded 100R fuel. That is a different fuel being tested.

We did not have time to get updates on aircraft projects. The meeting ended at 8:00pm when the restaurant closed.

Our next meeting will be:

Thursday 6 March, 2025.
