Honoring Marty Davidow and Sid Burks
The Davidow/Burks AMT Scholarship is a partnership between EAA Chapter 1116 and Chaffey College that helps Aviation Maintenance Technology students meet the costs of training and FAA certification. The program has supported expenses including required textbooks and learning materials, tools and materials, and FAA written and practical examinations.
The scholarship honors longtime Chapter 1116 member Martin “Marty” Davidow and chapter leader Sid Burks. After Marty's death, his widow, Betty Davidow, asked friends and family to support the chapter in his memory. Sid proposed using those funds to help A&P students and worked with Betty and the chapter to build the program.
Following Sid's recent passing, the scholarship will carry both the Davidow and Burks names in recognition of the people who helped bring the program to life. We plan to add a fuller account of the scholarship's history and the people behind it in a future update.
