Chuck Buescher
As the Flight Advisor for EAA Chapter 770, Chuck Buescher plays a vital role in helping members pursue their aviation goals safely and effectively. The EAA Flight Advisors program focuses on increasing sport aviation safety by connecting members with experienced pilots who provide personalized guidance. Chuck assists members in planning their first flights, transitioning to new or unfamiliar aircraft, and assessing whether additional training is needed. His expertise ensures members approach their flying journeys with confidence, and participants often qualify for enhanced insurance options, including “first flight” coverage under the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan.
With over 23,000 hours of flight time in transport category aircraft, Chuck brings a wealth of aviation knowledge to this critical role. Retiring from United Airlines three years ago, he has since rekindled his passion for general aviation, flying regularly with the Flying 20 Club’s fleet, which includes a Cessna 172, Piper Archer II, and Piper Cherokee 6.
Chuck’s love of aviation began in Erie, Pennsylvania, inspired by his father, an engineer at General Electric who contributed to early jet engine development. Racing Thistle Class sailboats with his father and brother provided valuable lessons in control and precision, which translated seamlessly into piloting aircraft.
To pursue his career in aviation, Chuck earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Over his distinguished career, he served as Captain on the Boeing 727, Boeing 777, and Airbus 320/319 at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate and is working toward reinstating his Flight Instructor Certificate as he builds proficiency in general aviation alongside his local pilot community.
Chuck’s role as Flight Advisor is a perfect extension of his passion for mentorship and safety in aviation. Whether helping members prepare for their first flight or offering seasoned advice, his contributions strengthen EAA Chapter 770’s mission to inspire and support the aviation community.
