EAA Chapter 613

Franklin County State Airport (KFSO) - Swanton, Vermont

Flying Model Airplane Club

Flying model airplanes have always been a great way to get young people engaged in the sport of aviation. Many of the giants of our industry: designers, builders & pilots got their start working with model aircraft. This includes Burt Rutan (1st link below). Younger kids often start to learn about flying with control line models. These miniature flying replicas use real gas motors and are controlled by two lines, ranging in length, from 26' to 70'. It's a great way for young kids to start as these airplanes are somewhat easier to fly, since control is only one dimension, PITCH (up & down). I find kids like to build things, love anything that goes fast & makes lots of noise. Check out the intro video below (2nd link). EAA Chapter 613 is going to move forward with a FLYING MODEL CLUB. If you (young or old) are interested in flying models, please contact Tony Speranza @ asperanz@yahoo.com
