EAA Chapter 14 will formally reopen on Saturday, June 19.
As mentioned in the President’s Message of the June Chapter newsletter, “Our monthly pancake breakfast will be free to all members and will also include a free custom imprinted Chapter 14 coffee mug for each member that attends.” See a picture of the mugs below. Pancake breakfast runs from around 8:00 am to 9:30 am. We’ll have our regular feast of pancakes, waffles, eggs, and sausage. Then at 10:00 we’ll have our General Meeting, followed by speaker Richard Eastman, who will be speaking on Pitch and Power versus Airspeed. We hope to see him in person, but if he can’t make it down here from San Bernardino, we’ll watch him via Zoom in Hangar 1. We won’t be serving lunch on Saturday, but there will be ice cream available. As always, although breakfast will be free, we appreciate donations – they help pay for utilities, our lease with the City, and basic upkeep of our facilities.
Though many of the pandemic restrictions are lifted, we still have to meet certain food service requirements, at least for this month. Thus, we’ll have volunteers who will hand you syrup, butter, salt and pepper for your pancake breakfast– just ask them what you need and they will gladly hand it to you. We also will be glad to pour you a cup of coffee in a paper cup and hand you creamer and sugar if you want – no ceramic cups this month. Following local guidelines, we’ll be on the honor system regarding wearing masks. A number of members have mentioned that even though they are fully vaccinated they plan on wearing a mask, to be a good neighbor and for the health and safety of all our members. One member said, “It’s a courtesy thing.” Speaking of being a good neighbor, we’d appreciate your doing your part by using the Clorox wipes to wipe down your chair and table when you are finished – helps make the lives of our volunteers easier.
Hopefully soon, we’ll be back to normal operations. But for now, it is just great to get back together and be with our fellow members who love to look at, learn about, talk about and fly airplanes!
EAA Chapter 14 Secretary
From Our Chapter President:
Hello everyone, This is the month we've all been waiting for. After more than a year, EAA Chapter 14 is getting ready to reopen.
California Governor Newsom announced that on June 15th many of the restrictions related to the covid-19 pandemic will end. In consideration of this announcement our Board has voted to resume our General Meetings in June, and all activities including Young Eagle flights in July.
To celebrate the reopening, we are including a couple of extras: Our monthly pancake breakfast will be free to all members and will also include a free custom imprinted Chapter 14 coffee mug for each member that attends.
In consideration of remaining health recommendations, we will take COVID-19 precautions such as ventilation, social distancing, hand washing, and the use of face masks. Each member who attends should exercise precautions as they deem necessary.
Trinidad Lopez, President, EAA Chapter 14
