Ray Aviation Scholarship

EAA Ray Aviation ScholarshipThrough the generous support of the Ray Foundation, EAA provides up to $10,000 to deserving youths for their flight training expenses, totaling nearly $1,200,000 in scholarships annually.

The program is supported by more than 100 EAA chapters, and supports close to 120 scholars.  

Each year, our chapter supports one scholar, between the ages of 16 and 19, in the form funding and mentorship to help him or her earn their pilot certificate.

EAA Ray Aviation Flight Training Scholarship

 

EAA Chapter 932 is approved to host an EAA’s Ray Aviation Scholarship for 2024! The Ray Aviation Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program that is supported by the Ray Foundation, managed by EAA, and administered through the EAA Chapter network. Through the generous support of the Ray Foundation, EAA will provide up to $11,000 to deserving youths for their flight training expenses, totaling $1,200,000 in scholarships annually. The scholarship is for qualified student pilots ages 15-19 for initial Private Pilot, Sport Pilot, or Glider Certificate.

  • Scholarship Awards: Glider = $5500, Sport Pilot = $8250 & Private Pilot = $11,000

  • Scholars are nominated by EAA Chapter 932 members.

    • Nominees are members of the EAA, EAA Chapter 932 and part of the Galt Airport community, i.e. current JB Aviation flight school student, participating member of chapter 932, and/or a candidate nominated by an active chapter 932 member or JB aviation flight instructor.
    • The scholarship committee then selects a candidate from among the nominees to be approved by the EAA for the scholarship.
    • Minimum of age 15 for glider training. Age 16-19 for powered flight training.
    • Possession of a student pilot certificate.
    • Possession of FAA medical certificate. (private pilot students)
    • Agree to begin flight training within 60 days of award and complete flight training within a year.
    • The nominees can be at any stage in flight training, however the scholarship amount will be prorated based on a student’s current progress toward completion.
    • A 500-word, typed essay by the nominee.
    • Additional consideration will be given to candidates who are former Young Eagles, EAA 932 student members, and actively participating in the EAA Flight Plan, specifically the Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course.
 

CaCandidate interviews will be held: June 18th and June 19th, 2024

ScScholarship recipients will be announced: June 21st, 2024
