Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 9–17 an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. It’s the only program of its kind with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation and today the Young Eagles program has flown over two and three quarters of a million youth and counting with many of which are now flying Young Eagles themselves today. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. We at 782 offer these flights in the Vancouver area during our Spring to Fall flying season and are meant as introductory flights. WE strive to fly every registered youth but Chapter policy is to take youth who have never had the opportunity to fly in a small airplane first while kids who have multiple flights already registered on an seat available basis as standby as there are only so many flights and seats available each night. If we are full the majority of EAA Chapters nationwide and locally offer these flights as well. If you are out of the Vancouver area and want a flight opportunity in your local area you can contact Chapter 105 in Portland OR, Chapter 1111 in Kelso WA, Chapter 1567 in Hood River OR, or Chapter 902 in Molino OR for more information or please see the EAA registration at Youngeagles.
Our monthly week-night flying events that are open to youth from 9-17 and are being held at the Airway Sciences hangar at Vancouver's historic Pearson Field. However, single flights can be arranged with individual members at a time and weather availability basis from Vancouver Washington's downtown Pearson Field airport or from Grove Field in Camas WA. To arrange a single flight, parents can come to a monthly meeting and be paired up to a pilot volunteer for a place and time to fly locally.
