Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 9–17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. It’s the only program of its kind with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation and today the Young Eagles program has flown over 2 and three quarters of a million youth and counting. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. The majority of EAA Chapters nationwide offer these flights. If you are out of the Vancouver area and want a flight opportunity in your local area you can contact Chapter 105 in Portland OR, Chapter 1111 in Kelso WA, Chapter 1567 in Hood River OR, or Chapter 902 in Molino OR for more information.
EAA Chapter 782's monthly week-night flying events are closed until April of 2027 due to not enough time before darkness in our shorter Fall and Winter evenings. However, single flights can be flown by individual members on a time and weather availability basis from Vancouver Washington's downtown Pearson Field airport or from Gove Field. To arrange a flight, parents can come to a monthly meeting and be paired up to a pilot volunteer for a place and time to fly locally. There are other local PDX EAA chapters as well so please see the EAA registration link at http://yeday.org for other local area EAA chapters!
