Scholarships

National EAA and EAA Chapter 551 provides opportunities for aviation scholarships.

EAA Chapter 551 provides scholarships and training for goal-oriented youth/young adults to enter Aviation Careers as Pilots or Mechanics. By contributing to this fund, you will be giving goal-oriented youth/young adults the opportunity to reach their dream of an aviation career. We try to sponsor at least one Ray Aviation Scholarship each year to youth age 16-19.

EAA Chapter 551 Provides Partial Scholarships for up to Two Youth Annually for the EAA Advanced Air Academy Camp in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. EAA Advanced Air Academy Camp is for youth in grades 10-12 and youth must be at least 16 years old to attend. This national camp is very popular. Please let the EAA Chapter 551 Scholarship Coordinator know of your interest about a year before you would like to attend camp so that EAA Chapter 551 plans can be made for your acceptance into the Camp.

We also try to sponsor at least one Ray Aviation Scholarship each year to youth age 16-19. The EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship is a scholarship program that is funded by the Ray Foundation, managed by EAA, and administered through the EAA Chapter network. Through the generous support of the Ray Foundation, EAA provides up to $11,000 to deserving youths to help cover their flight training expenses, totaling $1,800,000 in annual scholarship funding. Since 2019 EAA Chapter 551 has sponsored five Ray Aviation Scholars and have committed to sponsor a scholar this year.
