Hello and welcome to the EAA Chapter 517 Donations page
EAA Chapter 517 is a 501C3 Non Profit company. There are no paid officers, no paid
employees and 100 percent of all donations go to fund the project the donation is for.
EAA Chapter 517 is looking for capital donations to help pay off the hangar we are in.
We have paid about 75% of the building. Paying it off would greatly free up capital for
other projects the group does. All donations are tax deductible and you can write them
off.
We also take saleable items on donation. In the last 2 years we have sold donated items to completely fund our new loft in the back of the hangar, which added a large amount of storage, flight simulator area, Video viewing area with a 97 inch flat panel TV and sitting areas. We have sold more items than I can say, but many include extension ladders, vehicle tires, paintings, aviation manuals and books, microwaves, blenders, motorcycles, scooters, trailers, a couple of cars, aviation head sets and radios, aviation instruments, and more airplane parts than I can list.
We paid close to $20,000 to have the loft built at absolutely no cost to the group, just from the donations that were made and sold, and we did it in about 2 years. Other future projects we are currently working on is an airplane build that is going to be used as a Young Eagle build program, to teach the younger generation how to build an actual modern airplane. It teaches them planning and prep work, as well as using tools and thinking outside the box to make things work at times. We have part of the plane in the hangar and work starts in January with the students. Another future project is a simulator that will be approved for use in training for IFR (instrument flight rules). It will be able to be logged for training time, as well as used to keep pilots current under IFR rules. We have looked at quite a few brands but haven’t started funding that project yet. Hopefully it will be started soon.
Other things donations are used for is month to month expenses. We have a large common area in the building that we pay part of the expenses for, plus the tower out the top of the building where we take students and members to watch full scale activity at the Missoula airport.
Please consider donating to the capital building fund or donating stuff that we can sell to finance any of our other projects or overhead, heating, electricity and such.
