About EAA 187

EAA is a growing and diverse international organization with a wide range of aviation interests. Originally founded in 1953 by folks involved in building their own airplanes, through the years it has transformed into a wide group interested in everything aviation. EAA sponsors the world's largest fly-in, Airventure, at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, every July.

EAA Chapter 187, called The Capital of Texas Chapter and The Tony Bingelis Chapter, is located in the Greater Austin Area. It is for anyone interested in building custom aircraft, flying, aviation, youth education, and beyond. Meetings are at GTU (Georgetown Executive Airport), in the terminal meeting room, on the second Saturday of the month at 10 am.

We come from a great range of backgrounds, but share a common passion for the skies. We have regular meetings and events. We engage other events in the area, helping represent EAA and Experimental Aviation. We hold Young Eagles rallies, allowing kids age 8-17 to experience their first flights in a small airplane for free.

Want to find out more? Come join us at one of our meetings and introduce yourself. You will find that our members are open, friendly, and have many interesting things to talk about. Interested in building your airplane? You're in the right spot! We have builders' assistance, expert speakers and videos, a library, a tool loan program, first flight assistance and counseling, and much more.
