Gideon’s Air Force was founded by Bruce Webber, a retired JetBlue Airlines captain, and David Purser, a former Karnes City ISD High School teacher. They strongly encourage youth interested in Aviation to join EAA, learn new skills, and seek advice from expert mentors while taking advantage of all EAA benefits. The chapter’s name was inspired by Gideon’s story found in the Bible in Judges 7:2-8. This is why Bruce says, “All are welcome, but we seek those that want to be here, want to gain new skills, and want to make things happen!” Gideon’s Air Force promotes Aviation by hosting expert speakers in chapter meetings and speaking to schools on topics like pilot training, aircraft maintenance, air traffic control, engineering, airport management and rocketry. Adult members can also explore flying and are given opportunities to participate in fundraising events to support the chapter and community growth.
