The simulator is located in the Chapter hangar and was thoughtfully designed and assembled by several dedicated Chapter members. It features an IBM ThinkCentre with an Intel i7 processor, equipped with 8 layers and a multiplier, resulting in 16 virtual layers for enhanced performance. The system runs X-Plane 11 on a Linux Ubuntu operating system.
This simulator was engineered by two professionals with backgrounds in Aeronautical and Electrical Engineering. The custom-built platform replicates the Cessna 172, tail number N1431V, providing a highly realistic training environment.
It can be used alongside an iPad and a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to practice a wide range of procedures, including standard operations, emergency scenarios, takeoffs, landings, and cross-country flights.
Thank you to Kelly Bryant, Brian Faulkner, Jerry A and Wally and all who helped create this awesome project.
