Washington Contest and Camp Lodging

Ephrata "logistics"

The Best Western Rama Inn, Ephrata,  509-754-7111, is very popular with pilots, volunteers, and family members attending camp or a contest at Ephrata Airport.  Chapter 67 usually arranges for rooms at a discounted "block" rate during Chapter-organized events. Call (don't use a web-based service or the hotel web site, provided only for information) to reserve a room at the IAC67 block rate for a contest or camp.  Reserve early; rooms at the block rate always go fast.

Occasionally there are other area events that can make lodging in Ephrata a challenge, so book very early.

Other hotels in Ephrata include:

–– Knights Inn Ephrata (old Travel Lodge): 509-237-6287

–– Ephrata Inn Motel, Ephrata, 509-754-3575

Lodging in Soap Lake, approximately 7 miles north of Ephrata Municipal Airport:

–– Inn at Soap Lake: 800-524-0558

–– Notaras Lodge at Soap Lake: 509-246-0462

Lodging in Moses Lake (about 20 minutes drive from Ephrata):

–– Knights Inn Moses Lake: 509-707-8025

–– Masters Inn at Soap Lake: 509-246-1831

RV camping is available on the airport; a reservation is required.  Tent camping may be available by arrangement.  For information or reservations, call the airport office at 509-754-3508.

You can also rent a trailer from DK RV Rentals (on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/DKRVRentals/) in Moses Lake, WA.  Call Doug at 509-780-2735, and he will deliver and set up the trailer (you still need to coordinate with the airport office).

Grant Country makes a "courtesy" car available at the Terminal building; it's a van that can hold 8 people, including the driver.  Some pilots and volunteers who stay at the Best Western Rama Inn usually offer rides to other people staying at the Rama Inn and at the other Ephrata motels that are between the Rama Inn and the airport. Rides to dinner on Wednesday, Acrohouse on Friday, and the Awards banquet on Saturday from the Ephrata-area motels are usuallly coordinated among those attending the contest.

There are no rental cars, taxis, Lyft, or Uber available in Ephrata.

Plan on hot weather (high 80's, low 90's, and lots of sun)...but it's Washington, so rain is a risk at camp and contests.  Chapter 67 provides water, snacks, and soft drinks.  You'll need sun block while you're on the judging line.
