EAA Chapter 857

Pittsburgh-Butler Region Experimental Aircraft Association

EAA Air Academy - Oshkosh WI

Thank you for allowing your child to fly as a Young Eagle with us this summer!  We hope you found the experience exciting and enjoyable.

Each summer, the EAA offers their Air Academy camp experience at the EAA headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  The Air Academy provides an aviation focused experience for youth.  Details about the Air Academy camps with session dates, financials, and accommodation details can be found at this link

Our chapter typically selects one or two youth to sponsor at the Air Adventure camp each summer.  In 2026  the chapter will reserve the candidates preferred session and time slot and we will cover $TBD of the tuition for the camp session.  The balance of the tuition due may be covered by making an application for an EAA Camper scholarship after the youth's camp application has been accepted.  The family must arrange and cover the cost of transportation to and from Oshkosh, WI.

The sessions are divided into two age ranges for 2026: 14-15 and 16-18.   One camp, Explore Aviation Camp is a 6 day program that involves hands on aviation projects and experiences.  It also offers 2 extended length sessions (9 day) for the older youth that overlaps the 2026 EAA AirVenture convention week July 20-27. The other camp, Navigating Horizons Camp will focus on exploring career opportunities in aviation.  If you would like to have your child considered as a candidate for one of the 2026 summer sessions, please contact us via the contacts link tab.
