EAA Chapter 256 was officially formed in 1971 and has been operating in the Lafayette, Indiana area ever since. Today the chapter's activities are split between the Purdue Airport (KLAF) and a local private grass runway (31IN).
Chapter 256 members engage in just about every flying activity there is and are also active home builders, flight instructors, and mechanics. The chapter meets monthly and hosts Young Eagle events as well as a yearly fly-in. Throughout the year members fly and build almost every week.
