Shannon EAA Chapter 1099 was founded in 1995. There were 46 Charter Members and our present membership has since grown to 80. Chapter meetings are held at various locations on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meetings include coverage of regular chapter business plus a special program presentation (aviation safety, weather briefings, aircraft maintenance, piloting tips, or special member projects and excursions, etc.). Chapter formation discussion started in late 1994 and the chapter was actually started in January 1995 under "provisional status". There were 46 Charter members. Robert and Sheila Swanson were instrumental in helping the chapter through the formation process and in coaching the members through successful fledgling Young Eagles events. In April 1995, the Articles of Incorporation and Chapter By-Laws for Shannon EAA Chapter 1099 were forwarded to EAA Headquarters which officially completed the chapter formulation requirements.
