Chapter 907

Mount Pleasant , Michigan

Chapter Youth Group Workshop

Chapter 907 started a Youth Group Workshop in 2018 to introduce local youngsters to the many aspects of Aviation and provide a hands-on experience.   We invite youngsters from ages 12 to 17 to join our group to join us in this activity.

The EAA was formed with the basic tenet of Education and Recreation, i.e., to have fun and learn by doing so.  We have been conducting Young Eagle Flights for youngsters for many years and felt we needed to do something else to keep those kids interested and involved in aviation.  So, we instituted the Youth Group workshops.

These workshops are intended to introduce youngsters to the various concepts and skills involve with aviation including building and restoring aircraft, piloting and other opportunities in the aviation industry.  We also hope to show the kids that there are many other vocations in the Aviation community other than just being a pilot.  The skills we are teaching the kids are applicable to many other vocations such as HVAC, Plumbing, Electricians, Building trades, etc.

Several members or our Chapter act a mentor to guide the youth group in these efforts.  We encourage the kids' parents to come and participate with their children and enjoy the experience with them.

We are currently holding our workshops on Saturday morning at the Chapter hangar, typically from 10 to 12 on alternate weeks.
