Our 2nd Annual Wings & Wheels Fly-in and Car Show on October 5th, 2024 from 11AM-3PM at Hangar # 2 of Stellar Aviation located at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. Proceeds from the event go towards funding scholarship programs provided by Chapter 770 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). These programs assist high-school aged students in obtaining their private pilot’s license to address the nationwide pilot shortage, as well as send school aged children to aviation camps that introduce them to aviation. Stellar Aviation is located at 900 Capital Airport Dr, Springfield, IL on the east side of the main terminal building of Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. There is a donation based admission for the general public and car show participants. Food will be available to purchase for $15 per meal. Menu items include hamburgers, sides, drinks, and possibly more. For those flying into the event, there will be a discount on AVgas.
For the 1st time in chapter history, we are holding 4 Young Eagles Rallies!!! Kids 8-17 receive FREE airplane rides around the City of Springfield and surrounding communities. Young Eagle participants also receive a free learn to fly kit from Sporty's Piot Shop, as well as other perks after their flight. Register for flights at www.yeday.org.
