Each year EAA Chapter 77 conducts a “Fly-in / Drive-in” Dawn Patrol breakfast in conjunction with the Flushing, MI, Chamber of Commerce and their annual “Summer Fest Celebration”. The events kick off with a parade on Thursday evening with many civic and school organizations taking part. Chapter 77’s scale model “Wright Flyer” is among the floats that can be seen.
In addition to the varied aircraft that fly in, Sunday’s activities at Dalton Airport (3DA) include many aero related exhibits and entertainment for kids and adults alike. Information booths for Young Eagles, Civil Air Patrol, Father John Flying Club, Michigan Ultralight Association (MULA) and radio controled model aircraft clubs are also on site. Some years we have been honored with the arrival or fly over of a Michigan Air National Guard “Chinook” helicopter piloted by one of our own members, Doug Isham.
