Kent Flying machines was Incorporated in 1981 and was allied with the US based Experimental Aircraft Association. The main interests of this organization include building, maintaining, and flying fixed wing powered aircraft, Gliders, Gyroplanes, Helicopters and Balloons. KFM members are an enthusiastic bunch having built several aircraft and have ongoing projects. They own and fly aircraft of various types from the very simple to the very complex.

Some of these aircraft are self-designed, some built from plans and others from kits. Canada has some great regulations governing this activity with incentives to build and fly safely. Each aircraft must meet certain specifications and is inspected by Transport Canada before first flight. More aircraft are added to the Canadian register by amateur builders than commercial factories as the price of new certified category aircraft has become unaffordable for most, partially due to the recent so called luxury tax. It is a great way to become involved for aviation enthusiasts. The satisfaction of completing an aircraft, then flying it, is euphoric. Flying a simulator can be fun but nothing compares to actual flight in light aircraft. It is one of the best ways to clear one's head and enjoy the beauty of nature.
